Fan, the painted paper leaf of an episode from the life of the Greek philosopher Diogenes (c. 413 - 323 BC), one of the representatives of the Cynic school, recounted by Cicero, Diogenes Laërce and Plutarch: the glimpse of Alexander the Great and the philosopher.
The young king of Macedonia comes to meet Diogenes, who has not deigned to come to congratulate him. Seeing the barrel where the impoverished philosopher lives, Alexander asks him if he needs anything, but Diogenes replies "Move away from my sun a little", provoking the king's admiration for this disdain and grandeur.
Interesting sticks and guards, pierced, engraved, painted and varnished. A central medallion depicts Roman charity.
Good overall condition (small tears and restorations to the leaf, one fold a little hard).
