Love is a silver treasure, fan circa 1780
Fan, the paper leaf painted with several symbols of love on a silver background : in the center, a cartel depicts allegories of carnal love, with birds emerging from cages or held back by a ribbon, framed by two flowering vases, fruit and a pair of doves snogging on a quiver near to a bridal wreath.
When folded, a flower design appears at the top of the leaf, a hallmark of the Parisian workshops.
Mother-of-pearl sticks and guards richly decorated with gold and silver leaf, and the top of the guards inlaid with small marcasites.
Good condition (small tears and an old restoration on the reverse of one stick).
