Wooden fan, the skin leaf in finely painted with a view of the Barriere de Passy and its octroi office.

The Barrière de Passy was located on the Quai de Billy (now Avenue de New York). It was an important and busy crossing point between Paris and Versailles. Goods entering the wall of Fermiers Généraux were subject to the octroi tax.
