Eighteenth-century style fan, the silk leaf embroidered with sequins, painted with a gallant scene framed by two hot-air balloons, commemorating the first French aerostatic experiments in 1783-84: on the left, Charles and Robert's balloon, and on the right, Blanchard's balloon.
