Large and elegant hand fixed fan of the perfumer Coty, perhaps a special order made for the bal "Egypt" of the Countess of Bearn in 1914
The silver handle (800, hallmarked) enamelled in pink and purple with the hieroglyphic Ankh (also called cross of life or Nile cross), Egyptian symbol for Life (mortal and Eternity) and on the reverse side a silvered lace, topped by large ostrich feathers tinted purple.
