The reverse side printed with thanks and the program of the concert given on November 15, 1855 during the Distribution of the awards of the Exposition Universelle by the Emperor Napoleon III.
Mother-of-pearl sticks and guards very delicately carved, pierced, engraved and applied with burgo and gold and silver leaves in the style of the 18th century.

It is quite possible that this fan is the one presented to the Empress Eugenie during the prize-giving ceremony of the Universal Exhibition of 1855 and the one that was lent to the South Kensington Museum in 1870, listed in the Catalogue of the loan exhibition of Fans under number 138 (Catalogue p. 18)
