Palmette fan in embossed paper, chromolithographed and painted
Bone sticks and guards
The master guard has a gilded brass bouquet holder decorated with fabric flowers, shells and blue glass beads.
The counter guard is fitted with a mirror, called indiscreet because it allows the person holding the fan to look behind her without appearing to do so.
Several patents for "bouquet holder" fans were registered between 1846 and 1880. Ours could be close to the model registered by Jean-Baptiste Badou in 1876.
