Praline box, the lid adorned with a mirror featuring an engraving fixed under glass depicting an episode from English author Daniel Foe's novel, The Life and Strange Surprizing Adventures of Robinson Crusoe, of York, Mariner (published in 1719): Robinson arrives on the desert island after his ship sinks.

In France, the first translation appeared in 1720; the most faithful is that of Mme Amable Tastu, published in 1833, and the most popular (even today) is that of Pétrus Borel in 1836 (Source Wikipedia).
