Wooden or boiled cardboard snuffbox, the lid printed and varnished with an engraving captioned “L'embarras du choix” [The embarrassment of choice], in which a bourgeois man hesitates between two temptations: drink or a young woman on offer.

A double background reveals two other, more explicitly erotic scenes, entitled “Le son du tambourin” (The sound of the tambourine), in which a Pierrot gives rhythm to a couple's lovemaking; and “La double curiosité” (The double curiosity), in which a woman looks into an optical box to see the sex of the showman, while two others men are busy.
