The Doryphorus is a statute (original in bronze) by the Greek sculptor Polykleitos (circa 440 BC) representing a young warrior with all the beauty canons of the ancient era. While the bronze original has been lost, several copies survive from the Roman period, including one in marble from the late 2nd century BC, found in 1797 in the Samnite gymnasium at Pompeii and now housed in the Naples Archaeological Museum.
