Round box entirely painted and varnished in the Martin varnish style of Rinaldo and Armida after the painting by François Boucher and a landscape on the other side.

The story of Rinaldo and Armida is taken from Torquato Tasso's poem “La Jerusalem Delivered” by Torquato Tasso, known as Le Tasse, written in 1580.
The beautiful magician and daughter of the King of Damascus, Armida enchanting several Crusaders, transforming them into animals and and holds them captive on her island, until the day she meets the knight Rinaldo and falls in love. To keep him close to her, she uses a crystal mirror in which Renaud sees only his lover's beauty, and a belt woven from all the sentiments of Love, which keeps him even more keeps him even more attached to the magician. He eventually comes to his senses and flee.
